That match in Sydney had a similar start with Ganguly winning the toss - the openers playing well enough. And guess who were at the crease when day ended? Sachin and Laxman: the same pair ending yesterday's play.
Cricketers and teams are at times a fairly superstitious lot. I wouldnt be surprised if the reason for Laxman striding out instead of a night watchman was that they wanted the same pair to take guard as the one that did at Sydney.
Ofcourse it could all still go horribly wrong - but I would rather look at the positives and keep my fingers crossed.
With Anil Kumble in the side - things cant go too wrong can they?

no guts, no glory. losing a match just after winning means you are complacent, or that was a fluke
The big difference was we were positive last time. Unfortunately, for some reason, we were not so this time around. The difference between a good team and a great team is that the great teams play the key moments better. Nothing exemplifies this better than the Ashes series this year. England had a sniff at the game in every match (other than Brisbane) and yet, Australia just recognized each such stage as a key moment and seized every single key moment.
U seem like total cricket freak! A few of us together should start a club! As for the test match... the less said the better.
